The latest Royal Iris has been retired after 60 odd years service. Originally called Mount Wood. Replacement is Royal Daffodil built at Cammel Lairds. Royal Iris floating chip shop is somewhere on the Thames I think, in a very sad state.

I went on a few Saturday cruises/dances in the 1960s.
She sailed as far as Formby Light, if my memory serves me right.
You had to pay a deposit on your pint glass
My best mate was chucked off at Seacombe on the way back for causing a disturbance; someone had stolen his pint glass
He spent the night over there until the first ferry the next day
He moved to Texas and served in Vietnam, he died many years ago.
