Lost count of times we walked ford to crosby,first being take in a push chair to my grand parents,then walking it was when dad was in north Africa army, then to a job in Littlewood mail order,latter know as John moors home hopping

I wonder - any connection to Tom Jones Pub? AKA. Liverpool Arms.

Yes, John, he was the original Tom Jones, followed by his son, also named Tom Jones.

His father took over the Liverpool Arms in the 1870s from Edward Myers.

The Liverpool Arms opened as a 'Beer House' in the 1850s by a widowed Irish woman named Butler.

Part of his farm was on the land that Criddle's Estate was built on in the 1930s.

It's interesting also; there were three generations of Cooksons who ran the Tailors' Arms.

Hence Cookson's Bridge. Always thought that was the connection.
I knew the family who lived on a smallholding at the corner of Sterrix Lane and Gorsey Lane. But cannot recall their names. They kept pigeons.

always wanted to live on criddles estate,as a child use to walk through after spoots day on Bright and mays field thought there people there were Posh owned there own homes, then if you had a back garden you where posh

I only remember carter farm the house going there to buy ice cream the kitchen was painted with white walls it always seemed nice end cool there,
