Oh boy I do remember it... well, from the corner of Ford lane riding on my bike 5am on the way to Scotts Bakery, my first tumble was just at the crest of Cooksons bridgec I rashed all the way to the bottom cut my calf but didn't know, got up put the chain back on straightened the handel bars and pedalled off again, 3 more crashes before I got half way along Gorsey Lane, more cuts and bumps, remounted and tried again 4th crash was at the junction of Fleetwoods lane right by the cabbage Inn. That was it I threw the bike over the hedges and walked the rest of the way to work, I just got moaned at for being late. It was like crashing onto solid rock not soft snow. That was the last time I bothered with a bike.
Nice one , Ronnie. The old 28 heading up to Marion Square. I remember that year rolling a snowball from the top of Kirk Road and Bibby Road down to Linacre Road. It was so big by the time I got to Bill's Slipper Baths at Linacre Road I couldn't move it any further. I suppose it blocked the road for a few hours but there weren't too many cars on Kirk Road in those days. I'm happy Liverpool only gets a dusting of snow these days. Almost Budgie Smuggler weather in Liverpool now
