The street next to the small shop,just up from Jeans Mum house had a sign I think it said un
adopted,Dint know as a child you could adopt a row of house,I did have a cousin who my Aunt and Uncle adoped,

Read the first paragraph on the notice - The council would adpopt the street once the builder had fulfilled the criterior in that paragraph.

The council would then maintain the street through the rates.

Armagh Vale was unadpopted.

The house in litherland that had a sign like that is long gone,the people where moved overthe bridge or to ford,relations of the people who lived at 77 sefton road,Rigbys they moved new houses by the canal,My Dad didnt want to live by canal,Said you would get RATS,
What would Dad think of my son having a pet RAT

Lowden Avenue had no proper road surface until the Council Houses were built. But, no sign saying that the road was Unadopted. So possibly the Council saved money for 20 years or so.

I remember lonwden ave when I first started work,a friend i worked with lived there,would walkdowm there and onto the road thatv lead to the canal wooden bridge
