surely everyone had a radio in 1945 its a strange memory,I went with the girl from next door to tell her aunty the war was over,it was a long walk for a 7 year old,That long road by the side of ST Philips church Not church road,

That right Ronnie seemed to walk for miles,my Mum was a great one for walking,i expect when Dad was away and she had to live on an army allowance,it saved on Bus faresA day out was getting the bus to Aunties shop,But we did go to a place we called Spingle hillock,a small place outside Wigan close to a coal mine,where my uncle Wilf worked on security,We would hear the worker going past the house in the boots,It was there Uncle George worked as a Bevin boy
