When we had a few copper we would buy a sweets from that shop,I would only go on the big slide in the park afraid for hights only go up the ladder if there were kids behind me,when did the park get the new Swings etc,
You çould walk along Field Lane and continue through the tannery to the Ford swing bridge. The tannery stunk to say the least. Except for the area where the new leather was.
As children we would ride are bikes on the canal path holding your breath,so not to smell the foul air,Now in St Fagans country park they have a tannery, dont go near it,
My mum changed out of her work clothes as soon as she got home
Sometimes if I was rained off, I would pick her up from the tannery, parking outside of the Hen & Chickens as was.
I could smell the leather and dye off her when she got in my Alpine Green Mini (loved that car)
I was working out at a place called Hough Green, the GF was an old Scouser, when I told him were I lived, he told of his younger days cycling and going past the tannery on Field Lane and the terrible smell
