1949 Gala Queen & Front Cover of the Programme Posted by Ronnie on 4/11/2025, 9:55:12 The dresses and retinue suits were on display in English Martyrs hall a week before the Gala. The photo was taken at Bootle Town Hall at an event with Bootle's Carnival & Hoilday Queens, with Bootle's Mayor and Litherland's Chairman in attendance.

One year it was held at the Coliseum Picture House, the Queen being chosen by the council chairman and his wife. The retinue was from a different Ward each year. The last Gala was held in 1973,the Queen being Lesley Harrison.
