This CWGC cemetery WWI/WWII looks down on the 2 above images I posted.

I was there a few days ago photographing a headstone for a book a guy is writing.

Ronnie that's a very interesting read, the cemetery looks so desolute with only 11 gravestones showing, but then reading the detail I realised there had been many others buried there. I can understand their families wanting to have the lost men closer to their homes. It's wonderful that the CWGC do and they continue to look after their cemeterys. I saw a lot of the cemeterys in 2013 when I did a coach tour of them. Beautifully kept and all stones the same whether it was a private or a General.

The man who tended the CWGC cemetries on islay has retired, his grandson has taken over the task.

Are you travelling to Skye to get the ferry to Lochmaddy for Benbecula?

I worked with guys from Uist when I was with Wimpey Marine in the 1970s.

Some nice beaches on the West coasts of North/South Uist.

Enjoy your time there.

Yes Ronnie! Its a Caledonian bus trip! We visit Barra, Lewis and Harris. Ive always wanted to go to Benbecula ever since I saw it on a departure board at edinburgh airport in the 70s. I had no idea where it was and wondered if it was a Caribbean island!! Last time I was on Skye, there was only the boat! No bridge!

The headteacher in our village primary is from Lewis - A long way to travel home from Islay.

Barra, where the Loganair service plane lands on the beach!

My Mum & Dad went on a coach trip to Skye before the bridge was built, my Dad came home wearing a tartan bonnet

Talking of the Caribbean, I've done a few day trips from Islay to the Isle of Colonsay, riding around the island by bike. One of the days I went, Colonsay recorded the highest temp in the UK 91f - I stopped at Kiloran Sands, it could have been in the Caribbean, the white sands and clear blue waters, I was awe struck

Dont know what he temp is today in cardiff but it too hot for me,and we are high up so there is a breeze,I have the fan on and one of those fans you hand around your neck,some years ago out shopping,i had one on,girl in the shop asked were i got it from,I said amazon she was on the phone ordering one,

Is the tide in,I was always worried when at Kilfach if the tide came in could we climb up the hill,PS that cardigan bay

The tide was going out, Norma.

The East end of the beach (1st image) is unsafe for swimming, shifting sands, shelving down and undercurents, the West end (2nd image) is safe for swimming.

The beach in waterloo,just down from the train station,I child started to scream,saying they were sinking,one of are friend ran and pulled them out,Mother was so gratefull,

Enjoy the Uists Jean. Hope that the Minch behaves itself for your crossing over.Absolutely correct Ronnie. Some nice beaches. Spent 10 months there in RAF in 1973.
