Land girls

Eileen O’Dea and Kathleen O’Dea were both my aunties.
My dad was Danny O’Dea
They lived in the convent cottage Sterrix Lane.
I remember as a little girl my Aunty Eileen telling us stories about serving in the land army and the times they had milking the cows at Carters Farm.
It was lovely to see her remembered on the Land Army roll

Thank you for your very interesting post re your aunties Eileen & Kathleen.

It's important that the Land Girls are remembered for their major contribution to the war effort.

I did update the Ford Roll with Kathleen's name, which I've posted here.

Kathleen's W.L.A. Number was 70191
Eileen's W.L.A. Number was 118327

I will email you their Index Cards which I hold for them.

As a young child 4years old would walk across to my grandparent in crosby,often see the ladys working in the fields,Mum and I then in 1943 my baby brother,

Moira, As I lived on Lowden Avenue, I knew them both. Especially your Auntie Eileen who was a lovely lady who I got on with extremely well. And your Uncle John was a nice guy. Think they had a son John and two daughters. Possibly Eileen and Maureen. One of them married a sailor from one of the South American countries, possibly Chile?
And your name sounds familiar?

John,
We all lived in Lowden Avenue,my mum and dad and my aunty Eileen and Uncle Jack all got council houses there at the same time 1953
Maureen married a venuzuelan sailor and they live on Hatton Hill.
I still live in Lowden Avenue.

Moira,

I lived at 38 and I recall you lived lower down the road maybe no. 60 and your Auntie Eileen lived on the other side from us next to the Kerwins. Didn't remember that the houses were built in 1953. Good to hear that you still live there. Remember your family there and recall Dad as well. Think we knew Auntie Eileen because of Carters Farm and most probably delivering milk. I used to go to the farm as a kid.
