Thought I'd bring this to the top before it disappears.

You can tell me and you grew up with only a jigger separating us Ron. Bloody great pictures.

They're all exactly as I would have said them.
Oh my gosh, Masons bread as it came out of the oven, beautiful.

The icy was all things to all men depending what time of day it was. Big shout out for Arthur Clarke one of the proprietors. This man allowed us to sit in those booths for hours without a drink. In the summer he made his own ice cream and in the really cold weather he'd give us an oxo in the oxo cups. A truly kind man who never said or did an inappropriate thing.

I loved growing up on Linacre Road, always something to see or do even if it was only a fight with that lot of scallies from Roade Street, the bommy wood robbers

I still went to the icee with the mates in my late teens if we's been drinking in Kents.

The nearest we had to an American diner/soda bar - I loved the Oxo.

I always felt sorry for people living over the lift bridge,We had fields to play in and the park,The tegga belonged to us,didnt like stranger coming there,To try and pinch what we had collected for are Bon fire night,the Bradley road kids,only joking,

Lithy park was everyone's wasn't it Norm, even us little ruffians

I loved it. We had a little park as well behind the Colly picture house, Grants Park.

I travelled over the bridge quite often really, 4 years to and fro to the girls cenny, Litherland Town Hall dance on a Thursday night and the bowling alley.

Also, we had Linacre Mission our end Norm, something on every night and Sunday school on Sundays.

Looking back we were lucky to have such a place. They must have taken more kids off the streets than anyone.
Plus it was the finest of buildings, housing people who only wanted to do good in the community.
Ronnie has pictures of The Lighthouse Cafe they opened as an alternative to the ale house.

We went to the Mission for keep fit the 2 ladys who ran the class lived just off Church rd,she told us when you are hot never drink cold water, better to hold your wrist under a cold water tap,only went to the classes in the summer months,not brave enough to go over the lift bridge in the dark,or are parent wouldnt let us, having piano lessions dad would collect me from Alexander mount winter months,

yes it belonged to everyone, my Gran lived in Hatton hill, she loved living near the park a country girl; when she lived in Crosby she didn't like it they moved to litherland about 1900,said it was like bringing back in the county,dont we all love the place where we grew up

My grandfather was from crosby,but he was working on the welsh english border when they meet,maybe just more content when they were married, and had a home of there own,79 Sefton rd.latter no 91,
