washed a couple of towels yesterday,last rinse with fabric softener,happy to see the blowing on the line,thought they would be nice and soft,but no they are quite hard,whats happened to are water,

When I dry towels in the tumble dryer they come out soft, if I dry them on the line they go like sheets of canvas - We have hard water

I should put mine in the tumble dryer,About 20 plus years ago a bought all new towels lovely pink ones, I used to give towels to a man whose sister whould look after any strays cats and kittens, He has died and I don't know where the sister lives,

Cats have nine lives so they are still probably hanging out for your old towels, Norma. Best not to rub them up the wrong way though. I remember as a kid the towels were like sandpaper and always had a musty smell about them. I always tumble dry my towels so they are fluffy and absorbant on my now sandpaper like skin
