Look up Fomites, Jean ( I had to)

This word was used in the Litherland Sanitary Inspector's report of 1943.

I heard during the war there was an outbreak of scabies in litherland
There was a clinic near St Phillips church,
Years latter a person I knew her son came home from Uni,with the dreaded scabies,

St Philip's Church Hall on Orrell Road was a First Aid Post during WWII where Scabie cases were treated during an outbreak in 1943, Norma (good post)

The Washington Lyons Disinfector in Field Lane was kept busy, and the houses were also disinfected.

It wasn't just Litherland, there were outbreaks reported in other districts.

They were also First Aid Posts at Ford, Beach Road and Linacre Mission.

We had a women staying at 75 Sefton rd,from what i remember her husband was stationed on the golf ground same time as my Dad,she left taken some of my brother baby clothes,and leaving those little things,Mum and I went to the place on Orrell rd
I would have been 4 it was horrible takinging all your clothes off and being scrubbed with a brush

That’s very interesting.

I’m intrigued about it being located in Field Lane. Why? Was there some kind of sanitation unit there?

My dad was born in Field Lane in 1921.
