There would have been a May Queen committee who raised funds from events, street collections and donations to cover the cost of costumes and decorations plus many volunteers in organising the event each year.
Bootle Council would have given funds as it was a major event in the town calendar attended by the Mayor of Bootle in a May Queen parade around Bootle.
The parade also took in Litherland and Seaforth along Linacre Road, Bridge Road, Seaforth Road back into to Bootle ending at the North Park for the crowning ceremony.
