My maternal grandmother, Bessie Murray, and my mum's eldest sister, Dorcas.

Sadly, Dorcas died in 1917, aged 3, from meningitis.

Bessie was born in Bootle, and Dorcas was born in Litherland.

Before her marriage, Bessie worked in a chippy on Linacre Road and at Williamson's Toffee Works in Bootle.

When Dorcas died, Grandfather Murray was recovering from wounds, having been wounded at the Battle of Messines, 7-14 June, 1917
