Thanks Alan, that’s fantastic. We lost 3 men in the family in WW1, but in WW2 only Margaret Ellen Alty who was killed in an air raid in Litherland. Mind you the surviving soldiers from WW2 were all ‘injured’ either physically or mentally.

Looking at that memorial also makes me very frustrated that the Haarland and Wolf memorial from WW1 has been lost. It was a beautiful thing cast in bronze by the same craftsman who did the Peter Pan statue in Sefton Park. It ended up in a scrap metal dealership in Belfast. I tried hard to engage Sefton to retrieve it but with no success. Some people have no respect.
