I'm sure I saw a Lightning jet at RAF Woodvale as a display at the entrance to the base.
The RAF fly over Port Ellen all the time, transports and jets.
The noise from the jets is scary, I 'm sure they fly too low - The jets are always in pairs, you hear them long before you see them.
