You may be right Ronnie, one of my uncles was a conductor so it was always pleasing whe I got on his tram. Another way I used them when I worked at Rosses, if I slept in I would go to Alpha St stop get on the tram , then get off at Rosses could be seen, then used the dentist visit as an excuse.r.
