I remember it too Jean but we never usewed our car on it. Was there till 1970s. A new floating landing stage for boarding ferries was opened at the Pier Head in 1975. Eventually, the old Floating Road was dismantled and scrapped. The once vital connecting road to the landing stage has now gone forever, but it remains a vivid memory for many day-trippers who once used it as part of their journey across the River Mersey.The end of the Floating Road after nearly 120 years I don't think it sank in all that time but the new landing stage did after a few weeks. After demolition the scrap was sold to China. Another sad loss.
