Rev. Gordon moved from a parish in Toxteth Park to Litherland, he'd also served in Canada as a missionary.
His son was born in Litherland whom he named Philip.
Whilst at St. Philip's he was instrumental in having electric lighting installed in the church.
He left Litherland in 1933 moving to Kirk Onchan Parish in the Isle of Man.
He was a frequent visitor to the IOM before taking up his new parish.
He had a yacht berthed in the IOM, which he'd sailed from Fleetwood.
