Nice to hear that Howard was there, it was Howard's Litherland Town website that inspired me to start my own website in 2002.
I met the famous Albert only once by chance.
It was in 2002, I was down visiting when I bought my first digital camera and walked about Litherland taking pics to put on the new website.
I was on the canal-bank by the old Liftbridge taking pics when Albert came along with his 35mm camera - I had a wee chat with him about my digi camera and Litherland in general; I only wish I had taken his photo.
I've always been interested about history from an early age, my favourite subject at both primary and secondary schools.
My interest in Litherland's stems from an exhibition held at Litherland Library in 1973/1974, it was titled 'Goodbye Litherland' when the LUDC ceased to exist and Sefton Council took over and has destroyed the old Litherland I loved.
I first began my Litherland reseach in 1998 when the CWGC website came online with the names of the fallen from both World Wars which could be looked up. I had previously taken photos of the memorial with my 35mm camera.
I then began my research on the names on our Cenotaph - The rest they say is history.
Cheers,
Ronnie
