Yes the new one was going to compare with St Peters in Rome which would have been nice but PW is unique. I get a warm feeling when I think of how Archbishop Warlock visited the fans in the Sheffield Hospital declaring he now knew what a bevvy was. He would be conducting the service in the Catholic Cathedral the next day because Bishop David was unable to get back though he tried to very much. The Service and Archbishop Warlock were just heartbreakingly beautiful.
Bishop and Archbishop joined together after that doing what they could to ease the pain, speak out about social issues in the city and declare the fans innocence. They became known as fish and chips because of their many joint ventures in aid of Merseyside and it's people.
"The beautiful brickwork and vaulted ceilings of Lutyens’ Crypt offer clues to the blueprint of Edwin Lutyens’ grand designs.
Visit our Cathedral and, beneath your feet lies a unique opportunity to view one of the city’s greatest architectural gems. The Lutyens’ Crypt is no ordinary cathedral crypt; to many in the city this is Liverpool’s third cathedral, a secret spiritual space."
The Crypt always puts me in mind of Her Benny for some reason.
