During WWII, Litherland held 'War Weapons Weeks' and incredibly raised enough money to build an iconic Lancaster bomber and an MTB boat.
I was in correspondence 20 odd years ago with one of the crew members of the MTB.
The great Capt. Johnny Walker RN visited the Town Hall during the war.
He is commemorated at Bootle Town Hall, I visited there about 15 years ago and took photos.
