Amazing!

On the 1901 census Thomas Eaton and family are in 2 Bates Cottages and my great grandfather, William Seddon and family were next door in number 3!

Both men were employed as teamsmen on a farm and so it seems to me very likely that they worked together. We still have his horse ‘brasses’ in the family with his name on. Sadly he died in 1906 just before that photo was taken a long day working in the fields in torrential rain, he came home soaked and died of pneumonia 6 days later.

I seem to remember there were pictures of Bates Cottages on the old site, it would’ve great to see them again
