I'm in a wheelchair now so I had to move because the bathroom in my old place was a bit restricted. It's actually billed as a retirement home. There are 80 flats and I was very surprised when I saw mine. Up until then I was offered pokey little places that although nicely decorated just weren't appealing. This place though was spacious, facing the canal and I knew I wanted it before I opened the door. It was number 77, I was sold. Daughter born on the 7th, favourite players, Cally, Keegan, and the greatest of them all, King Kenny, all wore number 7, first European Cup won in '77, so it was fated.
Here there is a full time manager, and an in house care team who are there to see to the needs of those who find it difficult getting in and out of bed etc. I'd say out of the 80 flats only around 20 need some kind of care. I did at first because the wheelchair was a bit hard to maneuver, but it becomes easy after a week or two.
The residents have morning and afternoon coffee, made by themselves. There is a quiz day, bingo, carpet bowls, chippy club and movie night. Small patch of garden outside each window if you were so inclined, so no need for anyone to feel lonely.
