On Friday in the village hall, there was a Jubilee celebration tea for the senior citizens, with highland dancing, a trio of women singers came over from the mainland, singing all the old songs, and free raffle prizes. The hall had been decked out great and the entrance outside - They even had a cardboard cutout of the Queen.

I never went, I really don't consider myself an OAP, they have lots of free stuff for the oldies throughout the year culminating in an Xmas dinner in the hall. I don't go to any of this stuff, it's not my scene at all.

I sat in my garden on Friday with a friend and sank many bottles of chilled beer and a dram - I did steaks on a portable BBQ - The weather was glorious.

Yesterday the pipe band played in every village and finished on the village green in Port Ellen at 7 pm last night, there were free drinks and cocktails - I listened in my garden with a few beers; another glorious sunny day, the same as today.

The final event in the village is today - There was an ecumenical service in the church behind me.

When the service was over, they went to the green where they are having a final event for the kids, games, music, and a buffet.

Off out now to sunbathe, the sun has crossed the yardarm so time to open a chilled beer, the best beer is an open beer
