I did a search 'Coronation' on my harddrives and was surprised by how much material I had.
Thanks to Terry for the Hinton Street photos sent to me in 2006. Thanks to Eileen for the Bowden Street photos sent to me in 2008. Thanks to Barbara for the Street Queen Certicate sent to me in 2012.
I'm on the Roade Street photo, bottom right in front of my cousin Eric (glasses) Lenny Cinnamond (cap) is next to me. My Dad, 2 brothers, sister, and 3 cousins are also in the photo.
I can remember the street party well, what sticks in my memory was the painted kerbstones.
We were given plastic trumpets, which I'm sure they regretted later with the racket they made. I also won a miniature cricket set in a race.
It's hard to believe it was 70 years ago and I'm here now looking back on it and putting up this material of that event using the incredible technology we have now compared to what we had in our house then; a wireless.
I will be raising a glass to the Queen and to the memory of all those in the Roade Street photo who are no longer with us, Cheers
