Nice when you have them Norma - I can still remember the smell of them in the greenhouse when I was young! My Grandad grew them every year - and cucumbers! When not tomatoes he grew amazing and 'huge' chrysanthemums! I loved them but, so did the earwigs!!!! Haven't seen an earwig for years!!! The rest of the garden was given over to rows of peas, potatoes, other veggies, fruit bushes and rhubarb!!!! There were two flower beds near the house and beds up the Sefton road side! Eventually, although the flower beds remained - the rest was grassed over.
They were lots of 'old' cottage garden flowers! Roses, lupins, snapdragons, old mans beard, lily of the valley, Prince of Wales feather, lavender, pansies, foxgloves and hollyhocks. Mum knew them all and where they had come from. She was a great gardener! Sadly - I'm not!!!
