The camp was very large, Barbara - It went up as far as Boundary Road, bordered the railway line going through Litherland and over as far as Sefton Road behind Alexandra Mount where the housing estates are now. There were as many as 3000 men there at one time. It was also a main dispersal camp for men being demobbed after the war after their troop ships docked in Liverpool.
There was also a massive ammunition dump on the Netherton side of Boundary Road where the allotments used to be (don't know if you remember them)
