Fortunately I’ve almost completely severed any interest in sports anymore. This might be the final nail.

like college athletes that generally have no business attending the same university that the greater student body does, but we look past this hypocrisy because they wear our school colors, they’re our grunts, our gladiators, mercenaries for the alma mater.
Then they bail on the educational opportunity that they weren’t qualified or deserving of in the first place, and go ply their singular talent at the professional level, making obscene amounts of money to feed that same tribal instinct, only this time it’s the hometown team of whichever metropolis we live near, and the wizards behind the curtain tweak the rules to protect their stars and build the cult following that the masses can’t get enough of.
Until they get a little too cocky, and forget who pays the bills that hold the house of cards together. And they virtue signal their obnoxious political beliefs and try to shove it down your throat, until one day they wake up and wonder what happened, where did they go wrong, how did it all crumble so fast?
