because if ratings were up in the era of wokeness, i suspect theyd be trumpeting it. having said that, i do believe theres more going on than just frustration with social justice efforts from fans. thats a large piece of the pie to be sure, but i think that the forced separation from sports kind of gave people a chance to reevaluate their relationship with sports watching. i'll admit that ive really enjoyed the extra hours that i havent felt the need to track some of it. The big tests are coming with football, if that happens, and actual playoffs for NBA and MLB. If NBA gets core teams like the Lakers making up its final four and ratings are weak, that will be informative. Golf has a major and a good leaderboard this week, and I hope they draw fans. The initial ESPN broadcasts were awful because the announcers were in different cities and you couldn't hear anything from the stadium. You have a once in a lifetime chance to present baseball with the pure sounds of the game, to hear the players, umpires, etc...and they ruin it by blasting fake cheers. I hate it. Once they started doing that I stopped watching. It’s fake, stupid, non-authentic. Some sports are better to watch without fans. Golf is better without the gallery. I think UFC is also. I think baseball would be if they stopped the noise. I think football is the only sport where the lack of crowds will hurt. I used to get mlb.tv a long time ago and they had a feature where you could turn off the announcers and just hear the Park sounds. It was awesome. It was the closest thing to being there in person.
