Used to be semi-interested when I gambled at 5dimes. Gradually got bored of that. Then the Covid pussies, BLM, and flag kneelers basically pushed my demo out of sports. I see 3 reasons to watch sports. One if you are gambling trying to make $$$. Two for pure entertainment. 3 if you are supporting a team. If I have no $$$ on a game, first is out. And I’m def not entertained watching politicized sports with 0 fans so second is out. I have no favorite teams so 3rd is out. I’m fairly certain I could find something on Netflix that I’ve never seen before, each night, for the rest of my life and never watch sports again. I’m thankful I got 20 years worth of sports enjoyment, but thats over now. Doubt my itch ever comes back. Though tennis is teetering on going all in with the SJW movement. Once they do I'm done and it will break my heart since I'm 45 and have been a die-hard pro tennis addict since the age of 15. The NHL still bleeds patriotism and a "band of brothers" approach to the game. After watching the STL Blues pull off the miracle of winning the SC last year, I'm hoping deep-down that the league remains this way. I can almost tolerate a couple buffoons who take a knee, because I still feel they are in the extreme minority of this. But if they change and adopt the SJW mentality then I'll be 100% out of sports. I haven't heard what people do or will do when the Canadian anthem is played. If Djokovic shows for the US Open in NYC, what do people expect him to do other than say some platitudes? And as The Athletic’s Seth Partnow pointed out this week, a good portion of that increase is coming during the first quarter, where fouls are traditionally called at a much lower rate. It’s also part of the reason games have been longer. A popular theory is that this is a side effect of not having fans in the arena: Without as much noise, viewers at home aren’t the only ones who can pick up what players are saying—referees can too. they play the double headers as 7 inning games. each game was a shade over 2 hours and much more enjoyable as urgency was attached to early innings. likewise, even though the reds have been frustrating to follow from an offensive perspective, im enjoying the 60 game sprint.
