Hello,
I recently purchased an L.C. Smith Specialty Grade 12 gauge, serial FW 25552.
Based on my research (including the LCSCA Specialty Grade production notes), this appears to be a post-war Specialty Grade, possibly falling within the 1945–1950 production window. I understand that only a relatively small number of Specialty Grades were produced during that period.
I’d appreciate any help confirming the likely production timeframe, and whether the FW-prefix serial and barrel markings align with known post-war Specialty Grade examples.
I’ve had difficulty finding other documented examples from this same production window, so any comparable guns, references, or guidance would be very helpful.
If the gun was manufactured 1945 - 1950 the SN should have a 'S' prefix, a Single Sighting Plane rib, and the barrel marked as below without 'Hunter Arms Co.' on the L barrel
