Got My Letter Now A Question

I received my letter in the mail today telling about my Fulton. All I can say is.. Wow.. Pretty good stuff Love the history.

Now to clean the wood on this piece or leave it with all the history and color? Asking the pros here... Thank you for all you guys do.

The first question is "Should I restore my L.C. Smith shotgun?

Certainly cleaning the external surfaces is prudent, and every vintage gun deserves a functional/safety check and internal cleaning by a qualified gunsmith.

If the gun still has lots of original finish and condition; then enjoy the gun as is. But if the gun is worn and looks kinda sad; then move forward with whatever restoration you are willing afford, as I can guarantee you'll spend much more time looking at your Smith than you will shooting the gun!

If the wood looks a bit dry put a dab of boiled linseed oil on the wood and rub it into wood with the heel of your hand. Take a soft tooth brush and rub a very small amount in the checkering and let dry. Works wonders.
