Mr Stahl sent me an article a couple years ago that got me to keeping an eye out for a Smith I didn't think I'd ever see. Thank you Mr Stahl. A good friend of mine helped me to find it (right under our noses). Thank you Chad Scarbro. Also thanks to Troy from Puglisa for holding it till I could get to the Southern. I appreciate the friends I've made through this organization more than the guns I've found.

Brian, I hope you end up doing a story about those guns. It would be very interesting.

Consecutive Syracuse serial numbers

Brian had contacted me Saturday May 3 and gave me two consecutive Syracuse serial numbers and a brief description of both. I was not at home and responded the next morning but have not heard back.
In his description he mentioned that these two guns were in an article stating they were stagecoach guns. I have these serial numbers in my Syracuse records and if memory serves me Jim Stahl had given them to me a while back when he was researching 8 gauge L.C. Smith's. One was owned by Bernie Liberati and the other by a well known New England collector (I have his name). They were both 8 gauge Quality 2 guns with 32" barrels.
In Brian's description he stated one was an 8 gauge and the other was a Quality 4 10 gauge, again stagecoach guns. So I am confused is this the guns that you are talking about?

Yes but the 10ga is a quality 5.

Brain contacted me and set the record straight, the one sequential serial number which I had written as a Quality 2 8 gauge is really a Quality 5 10 gauge.
Sorry for the confusion to some.
