Hey all, just wanted to post on here about a shoot coming on April 6th at Hopkins Game Farm in Kennedyville MD. The Event is the John Mercer Memorial shoot, hosted by the Washington College chapter of DU.
Its mostly a regular DU shoot, but they will have side by side class.
I'm new to this forum, but I'm a side by side enthusiast, and especially love my Elsies, which include a 410 field, a 16 gauge field, a 20 gauge Ideal and 12 gauge Ideal Long Range. I'll be shooting either the 20 or 12.
This shoot is also special to me, John was a good friend of my father's and myself, and the individual who introduced me to side by sides. He was not an LC man, he loved his Parkers, and I remember most seeing him with a Midland 20. He was a joy to be around, and an avid supporter of DU, having been the MD state Chairman.
Be great to see a few LC Smith's in the crowd. On my team will be John's son, also an employee of DU, and he'll be shooting a Parker. We'll have a little rivalry going for sure.
Regardless, it should be a great event, and though in the past the side by side category hasn't been hugely attended, usually 10-12 others, it is always fun. Also, the Washington College Chapter is new, run by a bunch of pretty earnest kids, they could definitely use some support. Hope to see some of you there.
