Guyette and Deeter Auction

Any thoughts on the G&D auction? Anyone win something of note to them?

The auction started on a high note with the Parkers and Winchester 21's as a few of which hammered at $40,000 +. That set the stage for high hopes for the LC Smiths. Not to be. The first A-2 brought $14,000 and the "only one known" Quality B came in at $6,500. It was pretty much downhill from there. A second A-2 at $4,500, a Monogram at $4,000. a d a Crown at $2,250. 43 Elsies sold for a total of $105,550. Rather disappointing

It’s all about condition, especially these days. Good guns will sell well, but like I said, GOOD guns. This auction had some good Parkers but not so much on Smiths and older Foxes. Some smiths described as original were to me obviously not. Just my two cents.5541

I walked away with two Ideals, and feel good about my purchases. One was a "Long Range" 12, chambered in 3", very excited to shoot clays with it this year and maybe a can or blackhead with it next winter. The other gun is a 20 with a beavertail forearm, obviously redone, which is fine as I intend to shoot it quite a bit.

I wanted the lesser A2 pretty badly. My son wrecked his car the week before the auction and costed my gun fund drastically. I know it had a lot of work done to it but that was the only way I could have afforded it. It'll be the one that got away.

Paul, Congratulations on your wins. I really like the engraving pattern on Ideals, and that Long Range gun was exceptionally nice...and will likely not be liked by your area ducks.
