16 gauge 2 1/2 ammo and Green Dot

Looking for advice on replicating a 2 1/2 clay target load with Cheddite huls. Love the RSTs, however they are difficult to get these days, and pricy. I tried 15.7 grains of The new Greendot with the 7/8 oz MEC charge bar and Ballistic products short wad, however, breaks clay fine, but dirty. Looking to keep to around 1150 FPS for old side by sides. Is the 20/28 powder cleaner to shoot? Is Longshot still in the low pressure and clean group of powders?

I like the 15.7 of GD in the RST hull with 7/8 oz of shot.I prefer the Commander wad and it will completly cover the shot.I do not like the 2028 and Longshot for a light weight charge like 7/8,but I do use plenty of these powders in other charges.My advice,stick with the GD and be glad you can find it.The new Herco is my favorite powder in the 16 ga.2.750" Good luck.Charlie.

Appreciate it! What is a good 16 ga with 7/8 oz shot Herco load around that same 1150 velocity? I will look up the Commander wad you reference. Those 16’s sure break Clays. Happy Easter. Mike

I will likely be switching to this Green Dot load. I have been using American Select with 7/8 oz., but it has all but disappeared from the market.
