I noted that after purchasing a shotgun, the owner should take the gun to a SXS gun smith for evaluation. I purchased an LC Smith, 12ga., SXS recently. I live in upstate NY and central Florida and am not aware of a specialty gun smith in these areas. Does anyone have a name and location of a gun smith I can have look at my new purchase.
Thank you

I have the same question, but for a competent SxS gunsmith in the Louisville, Kentucky/Southern Indiana area.

Would it be possible to come up with a list of gunsmiths by region. It seems like we see these type of questions quite often.

Before we could establish a roster of proven good SXS gunsmiths we would need a system to confirm that the person making the recommendation was a proven user of that gunsmith and had had more then one SXS shotgun rebuilt, not repaired but rebuilt, by the gunsmith that he or she was recommending..... I have personally spent thousands of $$$$ with Dan May and Gunter Pfrommer and Mark Beasland and Ken Waite can verify that they are all very very very good SXS gunsmiths...... and I can show all of my friends here the finished guns that these SXS gunsmiths restored and rebuilt for me...... posted by Jent.

got in touch with Dan May and will be bringing my Smith to him in April when i get back up north. A gentlemen on the phone and very knowledgeable.

I have thousands of parts ( around 20,000 to be exact) and can always help out but I’d prefer to not be on that list as I’m swamped now

Mr. Pfrommer has worked on three of my field grade LC’s and a Parker. He does excellent work and is very reasonable.
