LC Smith CE grade.

I am looking for info on the Ce grade LC smiths that were made. Thanks The one I have is a 12 ga 30 inch ejector field model.

Hunter Arms did not make a 'CE' grade Jon. Is the action flat marked 'OE' beneath the SN? Or 'Field E'?

This gentleman has been in contact with me and he indeed does have one of the six made "C" grade L.C. Smith's. I sent his latest email to Tom Breeden as Tom knows about these guns. Hopefully Tom will share what he finds out.

Only six experimental “C” frame guns were produced; 2 Specialty Grades and 4 Field Grades, all in 1929. Dr. Jim has the SNs documented in his Production Records on p. 61 & p. 81.
The “C” frame is identical to the standard FW frame, but was fitted to R frame lockplates.

Hopefully images and an article in the Journal will be forthcoming!

Drew, the gentleman sent me some pictures and a list of the 6 "C" grade guns made along with their options. His is Field Grade with ejectors and has the reinforced rib. The condition is very good. The unique thing about the "C" grades is that they have the FW frame but the lock plates are of a Regular frame with only the one side plate connecting screw.
I sent the email to Townsend Breeden as he seems to know about these guns.

I think what is the confusing part here is the C frame is being called a C grade which it is not.
