3/4 ounce lead loads vs 7/8s ounce for 2 1/2 in 16 gauge

Can anyone explain the effectiveness of the 3/4 ounce vs the 7/8s
ounce loads for hunting purposes. I hunt pheasants and chucker
and I'm trying to decide to load with Clays Universal for 7/8s or Clays international for 3/4s. You can tell Im a novice so any help would be appreciated. I am looking at Nick Sisley 2 1/2 16 gauge charts. If you loading with MEC what bushings are you using respectively. My LC is full and Full. (Using Ched 209 primer and Ched hulls

Max for 3/4 oz. I only have I load using Mec #19 bushing, 19 grs. Longshot, Ched. 209 primer and SG-16 wad. I have other loads listed for International powder but never tried using it. Different primer and wad.

For 7/8 oz. load, 26 bushing, 19.5 grs. Universal, Ched. 209 primer, SG-16 wad 1125 velocity, 7300 PSI
#27 Mec bushing 19.9 grs. Universal, 1150 velocity, 7500 psi.
Loads above using Cheddite 2 1/2" 16 ga. hulls.

The 26 bushing called for 19.7 grs and the 27 bushing called for 21.1 grs.

All my bushings are tested for a 10 drop average using a beam scale. I don't put all my trust in a digital scale for testing.

To the best of my knowledge the CHEDDITE 16 gauge hull and the RST 16 gauge hull are the same hull. I use IMR-SR-7625 gun powder in my 16 gauge reload. I use Remington 209 PSTS primers. I am reloading my 16s on a PONSNESS WARREN 375 press that has been adjusted to reload the shorter 16 gauge hulls, the RST 16 gauge 2 and 1/2 inch hull with a 6 point crimp. I am using the R-16 plastic wad which is a one piece wad that is light blue in color. I am loading one ounce of number 8 lead shot. I am using about 20.5 to 21.0 grains of SR7625 gun powder in this reload. There seems to be a small amount of unburned gun powder left in the barrel after each shot BUT this reload works well for me. I would not call this a slow or soft reload, it barks when you pull the trigger but nothing that is out of bounds in my opinion. You can reduce the lead shot to 7/8 of an ounce and add grits for a filler in the shotcup to take up the excess space. I would not go down to 3/4 of an ounce of lead shot for several reasons. Posted by Jent with the caution that this works well in my 16 gauge SXS and has been proven safe in my 16 gauge SXS and Winchester Model 12 pumpgun BUT I have no way to know how this reload will work in your 16 gauge shotgun.

David I appreciate your information. The Mec chart has the 19 bushing using 20.7 grs of Long shot. Your formula calls for 19 grs.
Could you please clarify grs of powder. I was just able to acquire some Longshot and wanted to make sure I had thing correct.
