Hunter Arms - Trophy Vases

The following is a Hunter Arms trophy Lenox vase. This rare variation has the pointer and I believe it is referred to as the "River Dog" design, opposed to the Lenox Spaniel vase. There is also a variation of the Spaniel vase that I believe was done by Weller (not Lenox) and is darker "brownish" color. image uploader From the "The Legend Lives" Chas. D. Harbaugh with a Hunter Arms Lenox Spaniel vase and an Osthaus painting. I would love to know what medal is pinned on the left side of Chas' shooting sweater, but it is impossible to make it out in this photo. I'm assuming it is a Hunter Arms award of some type. I believe those are the main vase designs, but there could be others I'm not aware of (other than size variations). Bob

Thanks Drew, I hope Fred Gilbert's Smith Trophy has survived somewhere, what a beautiful piece. I noticed the chapter on the history of Hunter Arms and I have some Hunter family items that might be of some interest (I'm happy to retake or reformat the following if there are any images you could use): I also have catalogs from 1900 to the 1930's (and some advertising) if there are any images/information you could use from them, just let me know. This vase surfaced quite some time ago, and as I recall there was some question regarding authenticity

This hunting theme vase was at one time owned by the Hunter family, maybe it still is (I hope so). The picture quality is bad, but you can see a hunter shooting over two dogs. The picture was taken at the Hunter homestead in Sterling Valley, NY, year unknown. I also don't know the story behind this vase or if there was a special inscription on the back. I know of one other similar hunting themed vase, maybe there are more, but no matter, a very special piece of Hunter Arms history. Bob
