Black powder shell reloading.

Merry Christmas!! From new member Ronald Clinton Sevierville Tn. home town of me and Dolly Parton.I was wondering if any of you, besides me reload shells with black powder? Thanks Ronald

I reload both 20ga and 12ga, both really light loads, for vintage shotgun. My 12 guage loads 70gr swiss 1 1/2 in brass 2.5 in. shell 1oz. shot.I have a lot of federal gold metal 2/3/4 paper hulls, once fired, from local trap range, if you need any. Ronald

Yes,there are many of us that load or have loaded Black Powder for these old guns.I have tried different combinations.The best luck was with a lubed or coated fiber or cork cushion wad that I cooked in a beeswax mixture.This helped these loads to shoot much cleaner without a lot of crud buildup.Cleanup was a lot easier.I stopped shooting Black Powder in these guns after I took a lock plate off for a repair.All internal parts were eat up something awful.The gas from this stuff blows back through the firing pin holes and everything it has contact with it eats.I always like to comeback and reclean the bores a week or so after the first cleaning.Stuff like to grow after Shooting Black Powder.Best of luck.Charlie.

Fun too shoot, and pretty effective, shooting 2 1/2 inch.shells never had any problems in vintage shotguns, not too hard too clean in break action guns. easy on old shoulders.

I love black powder! I load 10ga 2 7/8" and a 2 1/2" 12 bore. Like you said, fun and effective.
