A. E. Kraus paintings/history

Hello - I am working with a sporting arts museum in upstate NY on an exhibit called "Duck, Duck, Shoot" that will feature, among other things, four(4) A.E.Kraus paintings. I am assisting the curator with the exhibit and we are trying to find any original photos of Kraus or other items that would be suitable.

We are also desperately seeking a Kraus engraved LC Smith to be lent for display for the exhibit. The gallery is fully insured. Any help appreciated.

How is it known what was Krause engraved as he rarely signed, would he have engraved crowns and up?

I have a Crown Grade 20 gauge. Very nice sharp engraving. It’s not a duck gun but definite a fine example of Kraus’s work. I’m not sure what date you would need it for your display but I can certainly loan it out. I am going turkey hunting today for the next 9 days but if needed I could ship upon my return home.

I am Phil, and I hope you and your family are doing well also. I've no idea what Keith may have planned for his Kraus exhibit, but believe he is looking to find a Kraus signed gun to be a featured item in the display. Kraus engraved many Smith guns, but finding a signed example could be difficult?

Thanks Tom - I really appreciate your assistance with this project thus far. Our original objective with the exhibit was/is to exhibit LC Smith firearms that were most likely/certainly engraved by Kraus (because like everyone else, we interpreted the LC Smith literature to conclude that Kraus didn't sign his work)... however, discussions with you presented a potential new twist in this story, so a signed gun may be possible (which would be a bonus).

The Pratt museum and Les Weldin have been helpful in acquiring loans for other LC Smith guns. Here is a link for the upcoming exhibit - https://www.gcv.org/explore/gallery/current-exhibits/

I have a kraus sighed engraved all over fulton and two sighed paintings
