A-3 Grade illustrated in Brophy.

Can anyone on the forum confirm the SN of the A-3 illustrated in Brophy on pp 47-49 and front dust cover? One can almost make out the number on the trigger tang image but can’t be certain.
I may have also overlooked the contribution credits … any insight as to the A-3 owner at time of publication?

If I had to bet my life on that number; then I'd pick #205157.

"any insight as to the A-3 owner at time of publication?" No idea, but do know Victor Beadles provided a large volume of information. I've owned one of the guns pictured in Brophy and know several others who own/have owned others of the high-grade examples he featured. As FYI, I just recently examined the Monogram Grade gun pictured on pages 57, 58. and 59; so I'm certain all those guns still exist. I recently had a chance to examine A-3 #203953; it and the Pratt A-3 (don[t recall the sn) are the two best A-3 examples I've seen. Do you by chance own the A-3 in question?

Thanks for weighing in Tom. I had carefully inspected the tang image,compared it to the A-3 serial number table and arrived at the same conclusion... 205157.

Hi Bill,
Guyette & Deeter Inc. 4 February 2023 Auction Lot 51 LC Smith A-3 (on cover of Brophy book) Serial Number 205157 sold for $30,000.00 plus 20 percent buyers premium for a final price of $36,000.00 USD.
I believe that there was only 1 bidder.
