LC Smith #2, 8 ga

Love your sight, I'm only a poor shooter who loves my 20ga. While vacationing, I stopped at a nice gun shop and saw an old LC 8 GA. It was Described as a #2 grade, owner said it was very rare, and it appeared to be in excellent condition. Probably rare because no one would want to carry it very far, and must kick like hell! Just sayin'.

Welcome Gloria. I removed the location of the gun from your post in the assumption it was for sale.
Dr. Jim's "L.C. Smith Production Records" lists 38 No. 2 8 gauge guns. Only 8 more were made in other grades, including 1 No. 5.

At the recent Vintagers there was an 8 gauge competition

Please see Jim Stahl's list. He identified 51 total 8 gauge Elsies and at least one more has surfaced since his article. There may be several others listed on the Syracuse list. Nevertheless, very rare and desireable.

The gun is now listed on an internet auction site, at the location "Gloria" mentioned.

Thanks Drew neat gun I hope it ends up in a LCSA collection and shows up at a upcoming 8ga shooting event at 2022 Hausman's and 2022 Rock Mountain. To date we have not seen a LCS 8ga on the shooting line.
