Weep Hole Question

My 1906 hammer has a weep hole in front of the locking lug for the forend, that’s what I call it, and I’d like to know where the dog on water comes from after I’ve boiled the barrels. I’ve blown out the barrels and weep hole with air and the water still comes out while I’m carding. How can I keep this from happening? Thank you

It’s really tough to get the water out of the ribs. I don’t worry about it during the carding process. Once finished,I blow out the water then I heat the barrels pretty hot with a heat gun then blow out the ribs again I might mention I oil the barrels before blowing them out. Sometimes water coming out of the weep hole can stain the blueing. But once oiled I have no issues

you can plug the weep hole with a piece of shot. If the ribs don't leak anywhere else you are good. Heating the barrels above boiling point to get the water out, as Jerry said are the next best alternative.

Thanks guys. I tried a toothpick shoved in there and it really didn’t do well. I forgot about heating the barrels after carding

Why is that hole there?
