1923 LC Smith FW Top Lever Screw

I need a top lever screw for this SXS. I understand it is a 4-40. I ordered one but it appears to short to engage the top lever. Anyone know the correct length or where I m ight find a replacment?

Courtesy of David Williamson the screw is indeed a 4-40 with OAL of .310"

I use a 4/40 truss head screw. My supply is a 1/2 inch long. I like to leave them as long as possible to take advantage of the extra depth and threads. After years of repairs the first few threads in the tapped hole can get worn.
