Hunter Special questions

I recently purchased a Hunter Arms Hunter Special 16 ga and absolutely love it. I've shot it a few times and have had an issue with the cocking plate slipping off the barrel hook after I fired. I am able to open the gun fine, but it won't reclose. I have to take the forarm and barells off completely, reseat them, and then close the gun again. It has happened about 2/3 of the times I've fired.
I've searched a bit here and other forums but haven't seen any reports of similar issues. Any chance someone can give me either some information about how to stop this from happening or direct me to a place where I can learn more about why this is happening?

Brian it would be easier to explain if you could send a close-up of the gun opened showing the cocking plate.

It’s a design flaw of the gun. Many have come in to my shop with that problem. There is not a good fix. Jerry

Had my gunsmith check it out and he replaced the spring inside the barrel hinge. This made it work better, but still the barrels still "stick" and won't open smoothly after I fire the gun, especially the left barrel.
Thanks for the input on the design flaw...probably why I got it for $450. Still a pretty gun and a nice piece of NY history.
