Those who attended the last Southern may recall that the LCSCA provided space in the tent for representatives of the Gunsmithing Program at Montgomery Community College in Troy, NC to provide information and answer questions about their program. They will be at the Southern again this year, but this time sharing the Doublegun Preservation booth in the main display area. The head of the gunsmithing department will be there Friday and the director of the continuing education program over the weekend. Please stop by.
I will be teaching two of the continuing education courses this year. The first (July 26-30) covers reconditioning vintage shotgun barrels, both fluid-steel and Damascus-steel. The second course (Sep 13-17) teaches the proper procedures to repair and refinish the wood on double-barrel shotguns. If you have an interest, I look forward to discussing the details with you at the booth or on the range.
Steve: Will you need any donation barrels for the recondition class? I have a set of 1884 Damascus barrels that need a refinishing. Let me know. jay.baskette@gmail.com
