Just picked up my first L.C. Smith, an Ideal grade. It has 28" barrels. I've noticed that the right barrel & front trigger is the barrel with the most choke in it. Probably mod. choke with the left & rear trigger probably imp.choke. Is this normal. Im used to the rear trigger being the tighter pattern. Also the safety seams to work opposite what im used to in that its on safe when in the forward position. is that normal. Any help appreciated
Very interesting Nick. What is the DOM? Is the gun set up as a Skeet gun? The L.C. Smith "Skeet Upland Special" was introduced in 1928 with double triggers, pistol grip stock, and splinter FE. Early on it was not uncommon to have the R barrel tighter for the outgoing target and L more open for the incomer. Is the safety 2-position or 3-position? Possibly the safety was modified so it could be left 'off-safe' in the rear position and not automatically reset, for target shooting.
